As of 2023, ISO approaches 65 years of dedicated service to international students arriving in the United States for the first time. Our relationships with schools and their students have given us the opportunity to prioritize student needs and design comprehensive insurance plans with you in mind.
Comprehensive Coverage Approved By Over 3,000+ Schools
Through our insurance plans, services that are medically necessary in treating sicknesses and injuries can be covered. Services that fall under the above criteria include visits for scans, testing, labs, treatment, and even bloodwork. As injuries lie in wait through even everyday activities like walking or cooking, it is best to always be covered for potential medical events.
Our plans are available for schools and programs of all types – vocational, religious, technical, undergraduate, graduate, doctorates, and even after graduation. Students are encouraged to visit their international advisor to understand what insurance plans can be used at your respective schools.
We are highly cooperative with your schools to ensure that the plans offered meet their existing requirements as well as student needs.
At schools where you are given the option to opt out of an already existing school insurance plan, please note that we also provide waiver forms for schools that require them. In other cases, you will just need to submit some of the documents that you receive after your enrollment to your school as proof.
Nationwide and Worldwide Coverage
We know that some students move around from time to time during their schooling, and to ease your worries, your ISO plan benefits can be used across all 50 United States.
Our plans work with a few PPO networks: First Health, Multiplan, and Cigna. Each network contains doctors and hospitals that we have negotiated rates with so that you pay less for services you receive when you visit them.

Because providers are easily accessible, you’re never out of reach for in-network coverage. Please keep in mind that your plan will allow for visits to many different types of doctors. This list includes:
- Specialists (orthopedists, dermatologists, gastroenterologists, cardiologists)
- Primary care physicians (best for general sickness and injury visits)
- Urgent Cares (for more immediate doctor visits that are not of an emergency nature)
- Emergency Rooms (for very dire/life threatening situations)
We also know that students engage in travel abroad opportunities, whether on behalf of their school or for personal reasons. So long as you’re not visiting your home country, you’ll still receive coverage through your ISO plan!
Affordability
ISO is largely a team of former international students, and at some point, we’ve all experienced what it’s like to prioritize more cost-effective options to save money in the long run. Part of our promise to international students includes not only providing comprehensive, reliable coverage, but at rates that won’t break their bank.
With insurance starting at $31/month, ISO can help you start your journey in the United States on the right foot. Our plans have been designed to be some of the most affordable in the market, and we aim to remain cost-consistent so that international students can always enroll in an affordable plan that meets their needs.
More Than Just Insurance
Health insurance in the United States is generally a hard topic to understand, with recent surveys showing only 9% of Americans being able to understand their own plans. Since 1958, we have deepened our relationship with the international community by making insurance terminology and processes more understandable and accessible to those new to the U.S.
Aside from insurance, ISO helps international students make the challenging transition from their home country to the United States. One of our other resources is a blog website, which contains topics that many students find interesting: things like scholarships, tips for school, and healthcare assistance.
With ISO, we’ve got you covered.
