This is your guide to different activities and ideas to help make the time go by, as well as enjoying life while stuck at home.

There are various activities you can do while at home to make time go by.

Call your friends.

call your friends

We’re all in this together.  While college students can’t continue their classes and university events as planned, it’s important to remember you’re not the only one stuck at home.  Check in on your friends, your family, and remember that this will eventually pass.

Find new ways to attend events.

As the pandemic has spread throughout the world, people everywhere are still staying connected while staying at home.  With artists hosting concerts online, dancers live-streaming work out classes on their Instagram pages, and museums offering online tours of exhibits, there are still ways to virtually leave your house and experience something new.  Click here to see how you can explore the rooms of the Louvre from your couch.

Stay on top of your schoolwork.

While spring semesters are continuing virtually, it is important to keep your goals in mind.  Classes will continue online, and you should continue to do your best academically.  While college may look different from how everyone expected it to, take advantage of the time you have left of this semester.  Professors are working hard to continue your education online.  The education you receive also reflects the amount of effort you put into your online learning.

With sporting events postponed or even cancelled, find a new series that you can watch each night.  Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have series of varying length.  A few different shows can keep you occupied for months.

Work out at home.

With gyms and fitness centers closed, it’s important to still find ways to be healthy.  Exercise keeps your body strong and active, making it more prepared to fight off sickness.  Exercise is also good for your mental health.  Many gyms and athletes on Instagram are providing live-stream videos on their Instagram Story for you to watch and follow along with.  Simply clear a space for yourself and practice in-home work outs.

Go for a walk or a run outside.

While everything in life is going differently than planned, Spring is still arriving, and the weather is warming up.  Going for a walk or run outside can be a solo and touch-free activity, allowing you to continue social distancing while enjoying the nice weather for a little bit.  This is also a great way to clear your mind and relax a little bit, in the midst of all the uncertainty.

Cook a new meal or a try baking something new.

While most places are closed due to the virus, grocery stores are still open.  When you go out for your essentials and food, pick up some things for a new recipe you have not tried before.  Trying new things and enjoying a new meal can bring you joy during this time.

Take care of yourself.

This is a time where there is uncertainty over many aspects of life and it’s unclear how long this will be going on.  While you practice social distancing and are in quarantine, it is easy to feel lonely and scared.  ISO is here to make sure you are taking care of yourself and your mental health.  As a member, your plan will cover mental health the same as any other illness or injury – so don’t be hesitant to find someone who will be able to help with any problems or issues you may have.  We hope everyone continues to stay home and be safe.  Your health remains our top concern, contact us if you have any questions.
