As the price of college in the U.S continues to skyrocket, it seems normal to have limited funds as a student. Because of this, it’s understandable to feel limited in what you can do. However, you can still enjoy life while going to school. Many companies in the U.S are aware that students are on a tight budget and offer deals to alleviate this reality. Below, we have compiled the many deals and discounts for all things shopping, entertainment, food, and activities—so you don’t have to miss out!

Students can join UniDays for free and access student discounts. Students who attend college or university and have a personal institution email address or student ID issued by their institution qualify for a UNiDAYS account. Digital Subscriptions

The best way to enjoy any entertainment services is to mooch off your friends’, families’, or acquaintances’ accounts. If you are unable to use someone’s account, below are some of the student discounts offered to purchase your own plan. 

Spotify + Hulu + Showtime – Get your first month free. After the trial, Spotify premium for students is $4.99/month. 

Hulu – For just Hulu, save 70% with an ad-supported plan for $1.99/month (after trial). 

Amazon Prime Student – free six-month trial, then, enjoy Prime at half the price, $7.49/month. This includes free delivery, additional deals, and access to movies, TV shows, and Amazon Originals. You can also upgrade to Amazon Music Unlimited for $0.99 per month. 

For an extra $5 a month through your Prime subscription, you can also have access to over 60 common generic drug prescriptions delivered right to your door via RxPass.

Apple Music – Join Apple Music for a discounted student price of $4.99/month which includes Apple TV+ for free. Verification occurs through UNiDAYS. 

MUBI – 30 days free trial. $6.00/month. 

YouTube Premium – $6.99/month after a free month trial.

Disney+ – 15% off a year subscription (about $5.66/month).

There are many complementary and discounted admissions to different venues and activities that college students can take advantage of. The list below applies for nationwide companies, but you can look specifically at what is specifically offered in your region via Google, like museums, amusement parks, and movies.

Student Advantage – From food to travel, this program offers assorted deals as part of an overall marketplace. Keep in mind that a membership is required to join.

Planet Fitness – $10/month, $39 annual service fee. Some locations may offer additional student offers. Be sure to bring your student ID when you head to the club to sign up.

Zipcar – discounted annual membership; involvement with a university allows you to rent a car between the ages of 18-21.

Fair Fare NYC – Fair Fares NYC is a program that provides reduced-fare MetroCards to low-income New Yorkers, including students, who meet certain income requirements. Students in transportation-using cities outside of New York should see if there are opportunities or programs that also discount their usage.  

Culinary experiences can be discovered by checking restaurants near your school – many places around your campus may provide discounts for students. For example, Chipotle offers students a free drink with purchase when you show your student ID at participating locations.


Retail stores provide student discounts when shopping online or in person. When visiting a store, be sure to ask for any student discount—you could save at least 10% just by asking! Many colleges provide their students with complimentary access to a variety of newspapers and magazines. You can check your school library’s website for a complete list of free subscriptions to you. If your school does not provide access to a specific paper you want, find some below that offer their own student discounts:  

The New York Times – Through Academic Pass, your school provides free access. You will need to create an account using the email associated with the participating organization. 

The New Yorker – Students and educators can save 50%. 

The Washington Post – Students and teachers can subscribe for $1 every 4 weeks. 

WIRED – $5 for a one-year subscription using this secret link OR 3 months for $1 here. 

The Economist – Students can save up to 75% off digital subscriptions. 

The Wall Street Journal – Students subscribe for as low as $2 per week. 

The Atlantic – Student can purchase a yearlong digital subscription for $34.99 (was $59.99).

Many tech companies provide student deals through a specific webpage or discounts on your order. You can find these deals by searching the specific store and “student discount.” We have also gathered a few here:

Apple – Discounted pricing for Macs and iPads. 

Verizon Wireless – Save up to $35 per month on Unlimited phone plans through UNiDAYS verification.
